Privacy Policy
How Recoding America collects, uses, and protects information about visitors to this site.
Last updated: July 15, 2026.
Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Recoding America Fund, Inc. (“Recoding America,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, collects, uses, and shares information when you visit this website, submit one of our forms, or otherwise interact with us online. Where this site describes activity carried out with our affiliated 501(c)(4) organization, Recoding America Action, this policy covers that activity as well.
By using this site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or submit information through it.
Information you provide to us
We collect information you choose to share with us directly:
– Get Involved form: your name, email address, organization, the interests you select, your message, and whether you opt in to receiving news and updates from us.
– News signup (site footer): your email address.
– Giving and other inquiries: information you include when you contact us about donations or partnerships, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
When you browse the site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect certain information about your visit, including your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, the pages you view, the site you arrived from, and how you interact with pages. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies managed through Google Tag Manager, as described below.
How we use information
We use the information described above to: respond to your inquiries and route them to the right member of our team; send you news and updates, but only if you have opted in; process, acknowledge, and receipt donations; understand how the site is used so we can improve its content and performance; and protect the site and comply with our legal obligations. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Cookies
We use Google Tag Manager to manage measurement tags on this site, and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, session duration, approximate geography, and device information. We review this data in aggregate to understand how the site is performing; we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
You can limit or opt out of this collection by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings, installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or using any cookie-consent controls presented on the site. You can read more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
[If the site serves visitors in jurisdictions that require consent before analytics cookies are set (for example the EU or UK), add a cookie-consent banner before enabling these tags.]
How form submissions are handled
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate this site and our communications, and only for the purposes described in this policy:
– Webflow hosts this website and provides the forms you see on it.
– Airtable receives and stores form submissions, which we use to manage and respond to inquiries. A copy of each submission is also delivered to our staff by email.
– Mailchimp manages our mailing list. If you opt in to news and updates on the Get Involved form, or sign up through the newsletter form in the site footer, your email address (and name, if you provided one) is added to our list in Mailchimp.
– Google provides the Tag Manager and Analytics services described above.
Each provider processes information on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a reorganization of our operations.
Email communications and your choices
Every news or update we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time; unsubscribes are processed automatically through Mailchimp. We may still send non-marketing messages when needed, such as replying to an inquiry you sent us or acknowledging a donation.
Data retention
We keep form submissions and mailing-list records for as long as they remain useful for the purposes described above, and we keep donation records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You may ask us to delete information we hold about you at any time; see “Your privacy rights” below.
Security
We use reputable service providers and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, for example under certain U.S. state privacy laws or under the GDPR if you are visiting from the EU or UK. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, and we will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.
Links to other sites
This site links to third-party sites, such as press coverage, partner organizations, and giving platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Do Not Track
Because there is no uniform industry standard for responding to “Do Not Track” browser signals, this site does not currently respond to them. The opt-out options described above remain available to you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices or legal requirements change. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page.
